Let’s Make Breastfeeding Normal!
For a woman to have the ability to and succeed in breastfeeding her child, she is often dependent on a host of factors, including her community and their acceptance of her breastfeeding. A community has many components that are critical in helping a mother continue to breastfeed. There are public health and other community based programs, coalitions and organizations, schools and child care centers, businesses and other industries, and the media, to name a few.
Each of these entities and whether they support or discourage breastfeeding, can be crucial to the success of a breastfeeding mother. We want to make Allen County is a great place to be for mothers, and support them on their breastfeeding journey, so they can be comfortable breastfeeding no matter where they are in our community.

Breastfeeding Insurance & Reimbursement
Great news! If you have a new health insurance plan or an insurance policy that begins on or after September 23, 2010, breastfeeding comprehensive support and counseling from trained providers, as well as access to breastfeeding supplies, for pregnant and nursing women must be covered, without you having to pay a copayment or co-insurance. You don’t even have to meet your deductible.
This applies when these services are delivered by a network provider.
