For the fifth consecutive year, the Allen County Bike & Pedestrian Task Force is recruiting volunteers to conduct Bike & Pedestrian Counts. The Bike & Pedestrian Count Project counts the number of people bicycling, walking or using other modes of active transportation from Tuesday, May 15, through Sunday May 21, 2017. Over 40 locations have been identified as count locations throughout Allen County and approximately 200 volunteers are needed to help cover all of the locations surveyed throughout our county. We are asking for your help!
Volunteer support is vital to the success of this project. We ask those who are interested in helping to please register at: https://www.signupgenius.com/tabs/23677DF05AFCBECC42-may2017. Once a volunteer is registered, they will receive an email containing information on how to properly conduct bike and pedestrian counts. The Activate Allen County office would be more than happy to sign you up individually, if you do not wish to register online. Each volunteer will be equipped with all they need to safely and successfully conduct counts across the county.
Similar counts will be conducted throughout the state of Ohio and across the United States. Locally, the data collected helps the Lima-Allen County Regional Planning Commission improve bicycling and walking policies, projects and funding in Allen County. Again, this project is vital to continuing to create an atmosphere of health in Allen County and keeping our residents who use active transportation safe. We encourage you to get involved today. Those interested in helping can learn more at the registration website- https://www.signupgenius.com/tabs/23677DF05AFCBECC42-may2017, by emailing [email protected] or by calling 419-221-5035. Thank you for your support of this important work!
